Early Childhood Mental Health
Infant and early childhood mental health refers to the quality of a child’s first and early relationships and the child’s social and emotional development. This includes a child’s ability to:
- Experience warm and responsive relationships with caregivers
- Form relationships with others
- Explore their environment and learn
- Communicate in play
- Experience, express, and regulate emotions
Services May Include:
- Play based interventions
- Focus on developing secure parent-child relationships
- Parent education and support
- Trauma based interventions
- Consultation with childcare providers/preschool teachers
A diagnostic assessment for a child ages 0-5 involves three sessions to consider all aspects of the child’s development, relationships, and environment.
